Phillips, Jr., MD, MSPH, Elected as Home Secretary of the NAM Dr. Phillips will serve a 4-year term as the Home Secretary for the NAM, beginning July 1, 2026. June 3, 2026 Robert L. Phillips, Jr, MD, MSPH Founding Executive Director of the Center for Professionalism and Value in Health Care, Robert L. Phillips, Jr., MD, MSPH, was elected by members of the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) as Home Secretary for a 4-year term, beginning July 1, 2026. The NAM Home Secretary is responsible for overseeing member elections and other membership affairs. Dr. Phillips will succeed Elena Fuentes-Afflick, MD, MPH, Chief Scientific Officer at the Association of American Medical Colleges, who has served in the role since 2020.
