Earn PI Credit for Work You Are Already Doing

ABFM makes it easy to earn performance improvement (PI) credit and CME for the work you’re already doing through the Self-Directed Clinical PI Activity.

As a family physician, you are continuously working to improve care for your patients, whether it’s increasing screening rates, enhancing patient education, improving patient satisfaction, streamlining workflows, or refining treatment and management approaches.

The American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) makes it easy to earn performance improvement (PI) credit and CME for the work you’re already doing through the Self-Directed Clinical PI Activity.

Using the Self-Directed Clinical PI Activity is straightforward. Simply log in to your MyABFM Portfolio and document the following to report your improvement:

  • The gap in care you identified
  • Your aim statement (what you want to accomplish, the amount of improvement you want to make, by when)
  • Your goal for improvement
  • Your intervention
  • Baseline and follow-up data

On average, it takes about 20 minutes to document your improvement through the self-directed PI activity form. If you still need ideas for a PI activity to submit, check out the Ohio AFP EasyPI tool which provides a wide variety of resources for improvement activities.

You’re already improving patient care every day, why not earn certification credit, too? Visit your MyABFM Portfolio and complete your Self-Directed Clinical PI today!
