About

PRIME Registry

PRIME Registry aims to relieve burden, improve quality assessment and improvement, prioritize measures that matter, and attract resources to primary care to support comprehensive, relationship-rich care.

Empowering Primary Care

PRIME Registry was created by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) in 2016 to help small practices navigate increasing reporting requirements. Today, it supports thousands of clinicians across 47 states, serving patients in all 50 states. Participants in PRIME Registry gain access to a user-friendly, web-based dashboard that makes it easier to track quality performance, identify care gaps, assess patient risk based on social factors, and more.

Supporting ABFM Diplomates

ABFM Diplomates receive exclusive benefits, including a free first year of participation, with ongoing subsidies often available through the ABFM Foundation. ABFM Diplomates can also benefit by automatically receiving Performance Improvement (PI) Activity credit for submitting CMS-approved Improvement Activities through PRIME. Quality improvement activities in PRIME also support individually reported PI, with attestation available in your MyABFM Portfolio.

Brandon Webb
PRIME Registry is the data solution that my practice has used for a number of years. As the lead physician who oversees value contracting for our independent family practice clinic, PRIME is invaluable as a resource to know what we are doing well and where we need to make improvements. The ability to know how well we are taking care of our patients not only makes us better at providing the highest quality of care to them, but also shows to insurers, employers, and ACOs, how valuable we are in the value-based world.
Brandon Webb, MD PRIME Registry participant since 2016

Making a Difference

PRIME Registry works at an organizational level on initiatives that are making a difference for clinicians, patients, families, and for the future of primary care. ABFM’s Center for Professionalism & Value in Health Care (CPV) is leveraging the PRIME Registry as a research and development laboratory to better understand, improve, and support primary care.

For example, PRIME Registry serves as a platform for developing and testing high-value primary care measures, including those endorsed by CMS for MIPS reporting. The measure set features initiatives like Measures That Matter, including the Person-Centered Primary Care Measure (PCPCM), Continuity of Care, and Comprehensiveness of Care. PRIME also supports research and advocacy, helping primary care tell its story and attract resources for comprehensive care.
