ABFM Announces Five New Health Equity Activities

These activities reflect ABFM’s commitment to supporting family physicians as they address the complex factors that shape health outcomes. By equipping physicians with tools and knowledge to recognize and respond to health disparities, we can take meaningful steps toward more equitable health care.

The American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) is pleased to announce five new health equity-focused certification activities. Developed in conjunction with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), these new Health Equity: Leading the Change activities are designed to help family physicians assess their knowledge of health disparities and the underlying causes.

The new activities include:

  • Striving for Health Equity
  • Social Determinants of Health
  • Supporting Vulnerable Populations
  • Championing Economics and Policy to Reduce Health Disparities
  • Understanding the Impact of Climate Change on Population Health

Each completed activity will award 2.5 certification points and fulfill your self-assessment requirement. These activities are available free of charge and can be accessed within your MyABFM Portfolio. You’ll be directed to the AAFP where you can log in or create an account to participate. Upon completion, credit will be reflected in your MyABFM Portfolio within 10 business days.
