There exist today large populations in the world who do not have access to any modern medical care. These populations reside mostly in “third world” nations, but there are also pockets of severely underserved people in developed nations as well. Morbidity and mortality rates in these populations are very high. Children who survive have little real hope to achieve their maximum productive capability.
