Conducting rigorous and editorial independent research assessing the relationship between Family Medicine Certification (FMC) and the quality of care family physicians provide is a priority for the ABFM. Further, the research department has a broader agenda which, in part, seeks to understand the environment in which family physicians deliver health care and how factors such as health care market forces, practice organization, social deprivation, and health care policy may influence a family physician’s ability to provide high quality care to the public.
