    Baxley

    Elizabeth G. Baxley, MD

    Dr. Baxley is a Professor of Family Medicine and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, where she has served since 2012. Before joining the faculty at Brody, she spent 18 years at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, serving as Residency Director, and later as Chair, of the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. Dr. Baxley will serve the ABFM on the Executive Committee as its Chair.

     
    Kruse

    Jerry E. Kruse, MD, MSPH

    Dr. Kruse is Dean and Provost of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, CEO of the SIU Medicine group practice, and Professor of Family & Community Medicine and Medical Education. He has served SIU in central administrative roles since 2013. Dr. Kruse was residency program director of the SIU Quincy Family Medicine Program for 12 years and chair of the SIU Department of Family & Community Medicine for 16 years. He is past president of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, past chair of the Academic Family Medicine Advocacy Committee, and past member of the HHS Council on Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Kruse will serve the ABFM on the Operations Committee as its Chair, the Examination Committee, the Research & Development Committee, and the Communications/Publications Committee.

    Dr. Douglas is Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. He previously served as Chairman of the Department of Family and Community Medicine and Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at New York Medical College. Dr. Douglas will serve the ABFM on the Executive Committee, the Bylaws Committee as its Chair, the Credentials Committee, the Examination Committee, the Audit/Finance Committee as its Chair, the Research & Development Committee, and the Certification Committee.

     
    Gravel

    Joseph W. Gravel, Jr, MD

    Dr. Gravel is the Chief Medical Officer and the Chair of Family Medicine & Community Health at the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center. He served as a residency program director for 20 years. He is a Past President of the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors (AFMRD), the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians (MassAFP), and the Family Medicine Education Consortium (FMEC). He currently also serves as Chair of the Academic Family Medicine Advocacy Committee (AFMAC) and on the STFM Board of Directors. Dr. Gravel is a Professor of Family Medicine & Community Health at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Gravel will serve the ABFM on the Executive Committee, the Bylaws Committee, the Credentials Committee as its Chair, the Examination Committee, the Audit/Finance Committee, the Communications/Publications Committee, and the Certification Committee.

     
     
    Biggs 2016

    Wendy Biggs, MD

    Dr. Biggs is a Professor and the Family Medicine Residency Program Director at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is on the Board of Directors of the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians and serves on the Graduate Medical Education Committee for the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. Dr. Biggs will serve the ABFM on the Operations Committee, the Communications/Publications Committee, and the Certification Committee as its Chair.

     
    Bortz  

    Beth Bortz

    Term: 2017-2022

    Ms. Bortz is the President and CEO of the Virginia Center for Health Innovation, a nonprofit established in 2012 to accelerate the adoption of value-driven health care in the Commonwealth. Ms. Bortz currently serves on the Board of Directors of Virginia Health Information, LEAD Virginia, and the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Foundation. Ms. Bortz will serve the ABFM on the Operations Committee and the Communications/Publications Committee.

    Dr. Brady is the owner/physician of The Village Doctor (a solo family practice opened in 2003) and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Brady will serve the ABFM on the Operations Committee, the Examination Committee as its Chair, and the Certification Committee.

    Colleen Conry, MD

    Term: 2015-2020

    Dr. Conry is the Senior Vice-President for Quality and Clinical Affairs in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado. She previously served as Vice-Chair of Graduate Medical Education at the University of Colorado. Dr. Conry will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee, the Research & Development Committee, and the Communications/Publications Committee as its Chair.

     
    2016 Cunha

    Christopher A. Cunha, MD
    Crestview Hills, KY
    Term: 2016-2021

    Dr. Cunha is the co-founder of Pediatric Associates, PSC in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, and also served for 18 years as Managing Partner. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Pediatrics since 2012, currently serving as Chairman, and has served as Chairman of the Tristate PHO at Cincinnati Children's Hospital since 2007. Dr. Cunha will serve the ABFM on the Examination Committee and the Communications/Publications Committee.

     
    Hughes

    Lauren S. Hughes, MD, MPH, MSc

    Dr. Hughes is a practicing family physician and Deputy Secretary for Health Innovation in the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Prior to joining the Department, she was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at the University of Michigan where she studied health services research. Dr. Hughes will serve the ABFM on the Research & Development Committee and the Communications/Publications Committee.

    Lynn

    Lorna Anne Lynn, MD

    Term: 2014-2019

    Dr. Lynn is the Director of Practice Assessment Development and Evaluation and Staff Administrator for the Conflict of Interest Committees for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Prior to this, she served as the ABIM's Director of PIM Research for four years and as the Director of Recertification Development for 9 years. Dr. Lynn will serve the ABFM on the Examination Committee and the Certification Committee.

    Michael K. Magill, MD

    Term: 2016–2021

    Dr. Magill is Professor of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine and serves as Director of the Utah Area Health Education Centers Program. He previously served for 21 years as Chairman of the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine and 10 years as Executive Medical Director of the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics/Community Physician Group. He is Past President of the Association of Departments of Family Medicine. Before joining the University of Utah, Dr. Magill was Director of the community hospital based Family Medicine Residency in Tallahassee, Florida, and previously on the faculty of the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Magill will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee, the Examination Committee and the Research & Development Committee as its Chair.

     
    Mellinger

    Dr. Mellinger is a Professor of Surgery at Southern Illinois University, where he also serves as Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery, Chair of the Division of General Surgery and Program Director of the General Surgery Residency. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Mellinger will serve the ABFM on the Operations Committee and the Research & Development Committee.

    Robert J. Ronis, MD, MPH

    Term: 2015-2020

    Dr. Ronis is the Douglas Danford Bond Professor and Chairman for the Department of Psychiatry, and the Associate Director for the Neurological Institute and Psychiatrist-in-Chief for the University Hospitals Case Medical Center at Case Western University School of Medicine. He also serves as Vice Chairman for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Ronis will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee and the Communications/Publications Committee.

     
    Spogen

    Daniel Spogen, MD
    Sparks, NV
    Term: 2017-2022

    Dr. Spogen is a professor at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, where he also serves as Chair of the school’s Department of Family Medicine and as the Director of Medical Education. He is also the Medical Director and Faculty Advisor of the school’s Student Outreach Clinic. Dr. Spogen recently served as a Director on the AAFP’s Board of Directors. Dr. Spogen will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee and the Certification Committee.

     
    Soper

    Dr. Soper is the Vice Chairman and Director of the Division of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He is also the J. Marion Sims Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at MUSC. Dr. Soper will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee and the Operations Committee.

    Ms. Thomason has been a Vidant Health Patient and Family Advisor since 2011 and has participated as a Patient Advocate and Speaker throughout the country. She currently serves on North Carolina Quality Center’s Patient and Family Advisory Council, National Quality Forum’s Surgery Standing Committee, and North Carolina Institute of Medicine’s Patient and Family Engagement Taskforce. Ms. Thomason will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee and the Certification Committee.

    Keith L. Stelter, MD

    Term: 2012–2017

    Dr. Stelter is the Associate Director of the Mankato Family Medicine Residency Program in Mankato, Minnesota and faculty member in the Rural Physician Associate Program at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He has served as President of the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians and on the Minnesota Medical Association Board of Trustees. Dr. Stelter will serve the ABFM as an ex officio member of all committees.
