    Dr. Kennedy is a practicing family physician in Winter Park, Colorado where he started a new Advanced Idealized Micropractice in 2005. He is also the Chair of the County Medical Society and the Rural Health Network in his community. In addition, Dr. Kennedy has served as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center since 1994. Dr. Kennedy will serve the ABFM on the Executive Committee as its Chair.

    Dr. Stelter is the Associate Director of the Mankato Family Medicine Residency Program in Mankato, MN and an instructor with the Rural Physician Associate Program of the University of Minnesota Medical School. Dr. Stelter will serve the ABFM on the Executive Committee, the Bylaws Committee, the Credentials Committee, the Operations Committee, the Audit/Finance Committee, the Communications/Publications Committee, the MC-FP Committee, and the Examination Committee as its Chair.

    Dr. Hara serves as Associate Dean and Professor of Family Medicine at Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science. He is the Residency Program Director Emeritus, after serving 25 years as Director for Kaiser Los Angeles. Dr. Hara is also a clinical professor of family medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Hara will serve the ABFM on the Executive Committee, the Operations Committee, the Examination Committee, the Research & Development Committee, the MC-FP Committee, the Bylaws Committee as its Chair, and the Audit/Finance Committee as its Chair.

    Dr. Matson is Professor and Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. She has served as Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program and Co-Director of the Family Medicine/Internal Medicine Combined Residency Program in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Matson will serve the ABFM on the Executive Committee, the Bylaws Committee, the Credentials Committee, the Examination Committee, the Audit/Finance Committee, the Research & Development Committee, the MC-FP Committee, and the Communications/Publications Committee as its Chair.

    Elizabeth G. Baxley, M.D.

    Dr. Baxley is a Professor of Family Medicine and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Prior to this, Dr. Baxley spent 18 years on the faculty of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, serving as Chair of the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine from 2003-2012. Her work has focused heavily on health care delivery system redesign and teaching about patient safety and quality improvement. Dr. Baxley will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee, the Examination Committee, the MC-FP Committee, and the Research & Development Committee as its Chair.

    Dr. Brady is the owner/physician of The Village Doctor, a solo, independent family practice he opened in Newport News, VA in 2003. He is the President of the Ideal Medical Practices organization and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Brady will serve the ABFM on the Examination Committee and the MC-FP Committee.

    Laura M. Brooks, M.D.

    Term: 2011–2016

    Dr. Brooks is a practicing pediatrician at F. Read Hopkins Pediatric Associates in Lynchburg, Virginia where she has been since 2000. She has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Pediatrics since 2009. Dr. Brooks previously served as the medical co-director of the newborn nursery and as an associate in pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Brooks will serve the ABFM on the Examination Committee and the Communications/Publications Committee.

    Dr. Conry is the Senior Vice-President for Quality and Clinical Affairs in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Colorado. She previously served as Vice-Chair of Graduate Medical Education at the University of Colorado. Dr. Conry will serve the ABFM on the Research & Development Committee and the Communications/Publications Committee. She will also serve as a representative to the Residency Review Committee (RRC).

    Dr. Douglas is Chairman of the Dept. of Family and Community Medicine and Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at New York Medical College. He served as Board Chair of the New York State Academy of Family Physicians 2012-2013. He's on the Steering Committee of the New York State Council on Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Douglas was Program Director and Chair of Family Medicine at the former St Vincent Catholic Medical Center/New York Medical College Brooklyn-Queens Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Douglas will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee, the Operations Committee, the Research & Development Committee, and the MC-FP Committee as its Chair.

    Gravel

    Joseph W. Gravel, Jr, M.D.

    Term: 2014-2019

    Dr. Gravel is the Chief Medical Officer for the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center and the Residency Program Director for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency. He has been a residency program director for 19 years. He is the Immediate Past President of the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians (MassAFP), and a Past President of the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors (AFMRD) and the Family Medicine Education Consortium (FMEC). Dr. Gravel is a Professor of Family Medicine & Community Health at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Gravel will serve the ABFM on the Operations Committee, the Examination Committee and the Credentials Committee as its Chair.

    Dr. Kruse is a Professor in both the Department of Family & Community Medicine and Medical Education, and Executive Associate Dean at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Prior to this, Dr. Kruse spent 9 years as the Executive Director of the Quincy Family Medicine Programs, and 19 years on the faculty of the Quincy Family Practice Residency Program; serving as Assistant Program Director for 9 years and as Program Director for 12 years. Dr. Kruse will serve the ABFM on the Research and Development Committee, the Communications/Publications Committee, and the Operations Committee as its Chair.

    Dr. Lynn is the Director of Practice Assessment Development and Evaluation and Staff Administrator for the Conflict Of Interest Committees for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Prior to this, she served as the ABIM's Director of PIM Research for four years and as the Director of Recertification Development for 9 years. Dr. Lynn will serve the ABFM on the Examination Committee and the MC-FP Committee.

    Dr. Mercer is the McLaughlin Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Mercer will serve the ABFM on the Examination Committee and the MC-FP Committee.

    Marcia J. Nielsen, PhD, MPH

    Dr. Nielsen is the first public member to serve on the ABFM's Board of Directors. She was recently named the Executive Director of the Patient Centered Primary Care Collaborative. Dr. Nielsen previously served as the Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs at Kansas University Medical Center. Dr. Nielsen will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee and the Communications/Publications Committee.

    Dr. Ronis is the Douglas Danford Bond Professor and Chairman for the Department of Psychiatry, and the Associate Director for the Neurological Institute and Psychiatrist-in-Chief for the University Hospitals Case Medical Center at Case Western University School of Medicine. Dr. Ronis will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee and the Communications/Publications Committee.

    Dr. Soper is the Vice Chairman and Director of the Division of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He is also the J. Marion Sims Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at MUSC. Dr. Soper will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee and the Communications/Publications Committee.

    Ms. Thomason has been a Vidant Health Patient and Family Advisor since 2011 and has participated as a Patient Advocate and Speaker throughout the country. She currently serves on North Carolina Quality Center’s Patient and Family Advisory Council, National Quality Forum’s Surgery Standing Committee and North Carolina Institute of Medicine’s Patient and Family Engagement Taskforce. Ms. Thomason will serve the ABFM on the Credentials Committee and the Communications/Publications Committee.

    Dr. Jaén is the Chairman of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He previously was co-director of the Center for Research in Family Medicine and Primary Care and served as chair of the Research Development Committee of the Association of Departments of Family Medicine (ADFM). He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health, San Antonio Regional Campus and a Scholar at the Research to Advance Community Health (ReACH) Center, also in San Antonio.
